5.1 | DCS 02-2017 Infant Care | |||
Stephanie Ische introduced DCS 02-2017 report and welcomed Stacey MacDonald. Stacey MacDonald presented the options listed in DCS 02-2017 report and responded to questions from Council. Staff updated Council that the actual relocation of the Child Care Centre to its new site was an additional $105,000 to the budgeted figure of $495,000. Staff is in the midst of discussions with the Catholic School Board and Social Services for Perth County (Stratford) regarding opportunities to cost share the deficit funds. Committee sought clarification of the ratio 1 staff to 3 infants and how that equates to 10 infants and 3 staff. Committee sought clarification regarding the proposed daily rate for infant care. Staff confirmed that Social Services is willing to offer a funding gap of $5,763.75 per month for six months during a period of transition to infant care. Social Services has offered $53,204 towards the infant room set up that is available at the end of 2017. Further, the infant room would be eligible to receive additional wage subsidy totaling $28,600 on an annual basis. Staff have been reviewing strategies for improving cost effective service which will be addressed at a subsequent meeting. | ||||
